Construction of transfer hub in Mielno
Commune of Mielno - This project covers the construction of a transfer hub in Mielno to integrate rail, car and bicycle transport in this locality which constitutes an important economic centre in the area of the Koszalińsko-Kołobrzesko-Białogardzki Functional Urban Area, with its particularly strong ties with Koszalin that is located nearby (12 km). The transfer hub will be situated at the end of the Koszalin – Mielno Koszalińskie railway line, close to an intersection of the district road that connects all the localities in the Commune of Mielno with Provincial Road no. 165; also, close to the popular routes and cycling trails including R10 and Bike the Baltic. The objective of the project is to increase the attractiveness and share of public transport (including railway transport) and cycling transport on the Koszalin-Mielno route and to reduce traffic congestion on those roads that connect Mielno with Koszalin. The target group of the project includes the residents of Mielno and other localities from the Commune of Mielno who commute to Koszalin and, in particular, upper secondary students who regularly travel on this route, those who work in Koszalin as well as the residents of Koszalin and places around it who are employed or those with active leisure pursuits in Mielno and other localities in the Commune of Mielno. The project covers a construction of a ca. 1.5 km cycling path section that will go directly to the transfer hub. The project will be implemented by the end of the year 2019.
